Karlen Meadows

VISTA Member

Starting July 22, 2019, Karlen Meadows who goes by "Karly" will start her first year as an AmeriCORPS VISTA volunteer working for the Northern UT Native Connection out of Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum, UT.

With a personal connection to Native Americans and years of experience working with families and youth in mentoring positons, Karly is excited to have the opportunity to work in a position that will allow her to commit to a year of service working in the Box Elder and Cache County schools helping Native American Students achieve their educational goals with a focus on graduation.  She believes that mentorship is a vital and valuable tool that is proven to help students make it through their educational journey.

Her experiences include years of working with young people in the California Conservation Corps, volunteer work in local elementary schools and volunteer service with youth at her church.  All of which have brought her great joy and satisfaction in seeing youth grow and reach their potential.

Karly is married to poet Stephen John Meadows who is of California Ohlone decent and they are the parents of one son.  She is pursuing a degree from Brigham Young University through the Bachelor's of Independant Study program with an emphasis in American and British Literature.  She wants to prove that you are not too old to finish college and get your degree!  In her spare time she loves to hike and picnic in the beautiful outdoors.
